Bryce Canyon National Park in Southwestern Utah is maybe the most beautiful park in the Southwest. We went there in May when there was still some snow, adding yet another color to the spectacular limestone rock formations. An out-of-season visit of Bryce Canyon also has the advantage that there will be sufficient parking space at the overlooks along the main access road of the park. In the summer when parking becomes difficult a complimentary shuttle bus takes you to most of the view points. But unlike in Zion National Park, driving your own car is still allowed.

The park is located between Zion National Park and Capitol Reef National Park, but you can get there directly from Lake Powell. If you are short in time drive by all three of them, but do enjoy the fascinating views of Bryce Canyon National Park. There is not much infrastructure in the villages around the park, but you will find a few restaurants, cabins and gas stations. This is probably because many visitors come to Bryce Canyon in a day trip from Las Vegas. In the summer you can watch rodeo shows just outside of the park.
