Canyonlands National Park in Southern Utah is an attractive destination overlooked by many who travel the Southwest. Some think of it as a smaller version of the Grand Canyon, but they don't realize that at Canyonlands National Park you can actually drive into the Canyon through its South entrance. Also, Canyonlands offers with The Maze, Island In The Sky, and The Needles three very distinct landscapes, and all of them are worth the about one hour drive from the main highways. |
The park's North entrance is located about 20 miles South of Moab. The park's South entrance is closer to Monticello, which is about 60 miles South of Moab. So if you travel on highway 191, it might be worth visiting the South part of Canyonlands National park on your way to or out of Moab. If you are in this area you should definitely also see the gorgeous Arches National Park located just a few miles North of Moab. |
