Death Valley National Park in California at the Nevada border offers very unique and extreme landscapes and climates, from sand dunes below sea level to snow-covered mountains. If you are short in time then skip Scotty's Castle, there's not much there to see. The close-by Ubehebe Crater, result of a volcanic eruption, is worth the visit though. If the debris on the side of the road starts turning black, you know you are on right road towards the crater. |
In the summer it can get unbearably hot in the Death Valley National Park, make sure the air conditioning of your vehicle is fully functional. Gas inside the park is about 20% more expensive than outside, so fill up your tank before you cross the hills that take you into the valley. When driving over the hills always pay attention to small and mid-sized rocks on the road. |
